In May 2022, Federal regulators cited violations at Laguna Honda Hospital for which the hospital lost certification for federal reimbursements and many residents needed to be relocated to other settings. Laguna Honda Hospital leadership is working to bring the hospital into compliance with regulators and has applied for re-certification. Mercy Housing and city leadership remain fully committed to the vision of the new senior housing development on campus but have paused further outreach and design until the future operations of the hospital are stabilized.
